
Wilson Earns Perfect 10 on Floor, but Michigan Falls to No. 13 MSU

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 13-ranked University of Michigan women's gymnastics team fell to No. 13 Michigan State 198.050-197.625 on Sunday afternoon (Feb. 4) in a Big Ten Conference meet at Crisler Center.
The Wolverines did the work on floor exercise, tying a program-best 49.750 behind a perfect 10 from Gabby Wilson, while Sierra Brooks and Naomi Morrison scored 9.950s and both Carly Bauman and Jenna Mulligan had career-best matching 9.925s.
Brooks took home her second straight uneven bars title and all-around title, while Bauman won the beam title with a career-best 9.950. Junior Jacey Vore tied a career-best 9.925 on the beam and Haylen Zabrowski had a career-best 9.825 on the uneven bars.
Guggino led off the meet with a beautiful vault that set off four 9.875s for the Wolverines coming from Morrison, Wilson and Brooks as the Wolverines went into the second rotation trailing Michigan State 49.375-49.325.
Brooks earned her second straight uneven bars title, scoring a 9.950 to lead the Maize and Blue, while Vore and Wilson both stuck their landings with Wilson notching a 9.900. Zabrowski scored a career-best 9.825 and Michigan went into the third rotation behind MSU 98.950-98.725.
Following a fall to start the beam rotation, Vore and Bauman put up a career-high 9.925 and 9.950s, respectively, in the four and five spots. The Spartans maintained the lead as they went 49.500 on the floor and took a 148.450-147.875 into the final rotation.
The U-M floor team looked to make a comeback with Bauman and Mulligan scoring career-best tying 9.925s in the first two spots. Morrison and Brooks came up with huge 9.950s in the four and five spots before Wilson put together a perfect 10 as the anchor in front of 11,084 fans. The Wolverines tied a program-best 49.750, but it was not enough as MSU earned the 198.050-197.625 victory.
Michigan hits the road for the next four weeks, starting next Saturday (Feb. 10) with a 4 p.m. CST meet at Minnesota.
