
Wolverines Compete Across Two Sites; Visscher Ties Sixth-Best Pole Vault Mark in Program History

The University of Michigan women's track and field team competed in two meets on Friday (Feb. 9) at the Tiger Paw Invitational hosted by Clemson and the Windy City Invitational hosted by Wisconsin in Chicago, Ill.
Tiger Paw Invitational
Aasia Laurencin was the lone Wolverine to compete at the Tiger Paw Invitational, running the 60-meter hurdles. Laurencin won her heat in the preliminary round, placing second overall and qualifying for the semifinals (8.19). The senior placed fifth in the semifinals with a time of 8.12, just 0.01 seconds shy of her season best, and advanced to the finals where she finished fifth (8.20).
Windy City Invitational
Cate Visscher set a personal-best pole vault mark of 3.95m (12-11.50) to finish third while Kaitlin McHale finished fifth with a mark of 3.65m (11-11.75). Visscher's mark tied the No. 6 mark in program history and is the No. 15 mark in the Big Ten.
In the 400-meter dash, Trinity Henderson set a personal best (55.83) for a fourth-place finish in the open section while Sidney Green finished fourth (54.73) in the invitation section. Green was just 0.02 seconds from tying her personal best.
Penelopea Gordon finished fourth in the 800-meter run invite section with a time of 2:06.46, while Samantha Hastie's set a personal best (2:06.49) and a fifth-place finish.
Sam Tran's season-best mark of 4:39.58 in the mile invite section was good for a second-place finish. Samantha Saenz won the 5000-meter run with a time of 16:16.62 and Rylee Tolson set a personal best with a time 16:57.97 for a seventh-place finish.
In the long jump, Mia Manson earned an eighth-place finish with a season-best mark of 5.61m (18-5.0).
The Wolverines will close out the weekend at the Windy City Invitational on Feb. 10.
