
Michigan to Open Outdoor Season at USF Alumni Invitational

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's track and field program will open the outdoor season in Tampa, Fla., at the USF Alumni Invitational on Friday and Saturday (March 15-16) at USF Track and Field Stadium.
Notes
• Field action on Friday (March 15) will begin at 12:30 p.m. with the hammer throw while track events will begin at 6 p.m. with the 800-meter run. On Saturday (March 16), the triple jump at 11 a.m. will kick off field action while track events will begin with the 4x400-meter relay at 12:40 p.m.
• The Maize and Blue finished in fifth place at the 2023 Big Ten Outdoor Championships, seeing 14 top-eight finishes and one event title (Tom Brady, 10,000-meter run).
• Three Wolverines earned spots in the quarterfinals at the NCAA East Preliminaries, with Joshua Zeller (110-meter hurdles), Dubem Amene (400-meter dash), and Nick Foster (1,500-meter run) all advancing.
• Foster, Amene, and Zane Forist (discus) punched tickets to the NCAA Outdoor Championships following their performances in their event finals. Forist was the only freshman to qualify from the East region.
• At NCAA Outdoors, Foster finished 21st overall in the 1,500-meter run (3:46.78), while Amene finished 22nd in the 400-meter dash (46.70). Forist closed U-M's season with a 24th-place finish in the discus throw (52.69m/172 feet, 10 inches).
