
U-M to Take Hot Streak on Road to Northwestern, No. 19 Illinois

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- At 2-0 in the Big Ten Conference, the University of Michigan men's tennis team will face conference foes Northwestern on Friday (March 29) at 6 p.m. CT (7 p.m. ET) and No. 19 Illinois on Sunday (March 31) at noon CT (1 p.m. ET).
Notes
• Michigan is 2-0 in the B1G after posting a 7-0 win over Wisconsin last Friday and a 5-2 win over Nebraska on Sunday. Bjorn Swenson went 4-0, while Gavin Young was 3-0 during the weekend.
• The Wolverines won the doubles point in both of its B1G matches last weekend. Michigan is 5-1 win it takes the pairs point.
• Michigan is 8-10 on the season and is No. 40 in the ITA computerized rankings moving up three spots from last week.
• In the all-time series, Michigan is 77-28-1 against Northwestern and is 21-5 since 2000. The Wolverines have won the last eight meetings in the series. The Wildcasts enter the weekend with a 6-12 overall record.
• The Wolverines hold a 69-44-2 advantage in the all-time series with Illinois. The Fighting Illini have had the upper hand since 2000, with a 26-9 edge but it has been the Wolverines with the last four wins in the series. Illinois is ranked No. 19 with a 10-6 overall record.
• Jacob Bickersteth has the most singles wins on the team this season with 16 and is one win away from reaching his 50th career win. He is ranked No. 125 in singles play.
• Young is on a three-match win streak and is 12-10 overall this year and ranked No. 15 in singles play. He is 12-4 in his career in conference singles matches.
• Bickersteth and Young are ranked No. 27 as a pair and went 2-0 last weekend at No. 1 doubles. The duo owns a 7-5 record as a pair this season and are 10-7 in their career as a duo.
