
Wolverines Complete Competition at Battle on the Bayou

BATON ROUGE, La. -- The No. 2-ranked University of Michigan women's track and field team concluded competition at the LSU Battle on the Bayou on Saturday (March 23).
Aasia Laurencin took first in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 12.84 seconds, just 0.04 from tying her personal best.
The distance squad had another strong day, with four Wolverines posting either personal bests or season bests in the 800-meter run. Penelopea Gordon tied her personal best (2:04.78) to finish sixth and Cassie Kearney finished ninth with a personal best of 2:05.84. Samantha Hastie placed 12th (2:07.35), Mara Longenecker placed 24th with a personal best of 2:10.51, and Lucy Petee placed 26th with a season-best of 2:11.40.
Riley Ammenhauser earned a third-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 12.86m (42 feet, 2.25 inches). Maria Deaviz finished fourth in the shot put with a mark of 17.04m (55-11), the No. 3 mark in program history, while Corinne Jemison finished fourth in the discus throw (56.10m/184-0).
Next weekend, U-M will split between two meets. The Wolverines will head to East Lansing for the Spartan Invitational hosted by Michigan State on Friday (April 5) and Coral Gables, Fla., for the Hurricane Alumni Invitational hosted by Miami (Fla.) on Friday and Saturday (April 5-6).
