ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan basketball team closes its regular season on Sunday (March 10) hosting Nebraska on Senior Day at Crisler Center. After a 70-55 loss in Lincoln in mid-February, the Wolverines are looking to get back on the winning track prior to the Big Ten Tournament. The rematch is scheduled for a noon tipoff and will be televised on the B1G Network with Connor Onion and Nick Bahe on the call.
Notes
• Michigan holds a 22-4 all-time record against Nebraska, winning eight of last 10 in the series. The Wolverines have a perfect 12-0 record in Ann Arbor against the Cornhuskers.
• Last Time in Ann Arbor (Feb. 8, 2023), six Wolverines scored in double figures as Michigan defeated Nebraska, 93-72, at Crisler Center. Jett Howard led with a team-high 22 points, while Hunter Dickinson had 16 points and 10 rebounds. The Maize and Blue ended a stretch of several first-half lead changes with a 14-0 run behind five straight made field goals. The Wolverines then outscored Nebraska 16-5 over the next five minutes to establish control of the game.
• Earlier this season (Feb. 10, 2024), Michigan could not overcome Nebraska's red hot first-half run as the Wolverines fell, 79-59 at Pinnacle Bank Arena, snapping an eight game winning streak over the Cornhuskers. Nimari Burnett led with 18 points (7-for-10 field goals), while Tarris Reed Jr. and Terrance Williams II scored nine points. After Nebraska jumped out to a 20-7 start, the red hot shooting Cornhuskers never looked back as they built as high as a 30-point first half lead. Matching Nebraska in the second half (34-34), the Maize and Blue could not recover from the first half, and ultimately fell in Lincoln.
• This season, Nebraska set a program record with its 18-1 home record, which includes a perfect 10-0 Big Ten record. Additionally, the Cornhuskers have outscored their opponents by +13.5 in Lincoln. Conversely, Nebraska is just 3-8 on the road including a 1-8 conference record. Away from Lincoln, the Cornhuskers have been outscored by -6.5 points.
• Michigan will honor Nimari Burnett, Jaelin Llewellyn, Jackson Selvala and Terrance Williams II in a pregame Senior Day celebration. In addition to the players, U-M will recognize its senior team managers -- Curt Alvesteffer, Ian Ochieng and Alex Schestag.
• U-M is looking to snap a seven-game losing streak in the regular season finale. The Wolverines will be the 14th-seed at the Big Ten Tournament and will play on the first night -- Wednesday, March 13, at approximately 8 p.m. CT.
• While considered U-M's Sixth-Man, Will Tschetter has started the last three games after Olivier Nkamhoua was lost for the season due to wrist surgery.
• Dug McDaniel has led U-M in scoring the entire season (16.6 points per game), which is a +8.0 per game increase from his freshman season (8.6 ppg). In 24 games, he has 23 in double-figures, with a team-best six 20-plus and two of 30-plus. McDaniel needs just seven points to reach 700 in his two-season career.
• Williams averages 12.3 points per game, doubling any prior season. In fact, he has 22 double-figure games, doubling his prior three-year total (10).
• McDaniel (50), Williams (49) and Burnett (48) combine for 147 of U-M's 242 total three-pointers (58 percent). Burnett (27) and McDaniel (26) have 40 percent of U-M's steals (53-of-126).
• Tschetter has shot above 50 percent from long range the entire season and sits at 56.0 percent (28-for-50). A year ago, he was 5-for-20 (25 percent).
• With a team-best 44 blocks, Reed cracked into U-M's all-time top 20 (17th) with 75. He needs 25 to become the 12th Wolverine to reach 100. Reed is also 16 points away from reaching 400 in his career.
