
Dyer Scores Four Goals in Wolverines' Win at No. 22 Nittany Lions

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- The No. 5-ranked University of Michigan women's lacrosse team downed its fifth ranked opponent of the season with a 15-10 victory over No. 22 Penn State on Saturday (April 6) at Panzer Stadium.
U-M (13-1, 3-1 Big Ten) was paced by Kaylee Dyer, who scored four goals and added two assists to become just the seventh Wolverine in program history to eclipse 100 career points, while Katharine Merrifield netted two goals. Caroline Davis and Jane Fetterolf produced three-point performances with one goal and two assists each.
The Wolverines draw team dominated once again as Lily Montemarano won seven and Jill Smith added five draw wins to her goal and assist.
Goalie Erin O'Grady became just the fifth netminder in program history to record 100 single-season saves with her 10 stops against Penn State, and Maddie Burns had three caused turnovers and four ground balls on the defensive end.
U-M opened the game on a 5-0 run with its first goal coming less than a minute into the contest from Annabelle Burke. Penn State (7-6, 2-2 Big Ten) cut the lead to four, 5-1, heading into the second quarter.
Michigan and Penn State matched goals in the second quarter with four each as the Wolverines carried a 10-5 advantage into the halftime break.
Dyer netted her fourth goal of the game to start the third quarter and Smith scored her first as the Wolverines cruised into the fourth quarter with a 12-6 lead.
The Wolverines continued to control the pace of the game, scoring three straight to start the final quarter and hold a 15-8 advantage with 6:49 remaining in the contest. Penn State's attempt at a comeback fell short as it added just two goals in the closing five minutes, and U-M secured the 15-10 win.
Michigan continues its road swing when it travels to Baltimore, Md., for a Big Ten contest against Johns Hopkins next Sunday (April 14) at noon.
