
Big Ten Championships in Wisconsin Await Wolverines

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 9-ranked University of Michigan rowing team is set to begin its postseason with the Big Ten Championships on Sunday (May 19) at Devil's Lake in Baraboo, Wis.. Races are set for a 9 a.m. CST start with awards immediately following at 12:30 p.m.

Notes:
• U-M is seeking the ninth Big Ten Title in program history and the fourth in the last five seasons (2019, '21, '23; 2020 not contested).
• Last year's winning team total of 174 points was the lowest since 2016. U-M scored 186 points and 191 points in its 2019 and 2021 title-winning seasons.
• The ninth-ranked Wolverines return to Devil's Lake, which last hosted the Big Ten Championships in a title-winning year for the Wolverines in 2019. Overall, this marks the fourth time the Badger State has hosted the conference event (2000, 2007 on Lake Wingra in Madison).
• Races will be streamed live on B1G+, and a one-hour special will air on Big Ten Network on Sunday, May 26 at 10:30 a.m. Commentary will be provided from the B1G+ team of Dean Linke, former Big Ten head coach Bebe Bryans, U.S. Olympian Grace Latz and former Iowa head coach Mandi Kowal.
• The winner of the 2024 Big Ten Rowing Championships will receive an automatic bid into the 22-team NCAA Championships that will take place May 31-June 2 in Bethel, Ohio. Additional teams will be up for at-large selection during the NCAA Selection Show, streamed live next week on NCAA.com.
• U-M enters this weekend with 41 of 51 athletes who competed at the 2023 championship returning to compete in 2024, including eight of nine 1V8 athletes from the gold medal-winning boat.
• Michigan is the highest-ranked team in the field. Other teams among the national top 20 include Ohio State (12), Rutgers (13), and Indiana (14).
