
Wolverines Close Out Regular Season at Indiana's Billy Hayes Invitational

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The University of Michigan women's track and field team closed out the regular season on Friday (May 3) at the Billy Hayes Invitational hosted by Indiana at the Robert C. Haugh Complex.
Trinity Henderson finished fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.73, while Sophie Isom placed first in the 400-meter dash with a season-best time of 55.19.
In the 800-meter run invite section, Penelopea Gordon earned a second-place finish (2:06.38) and Samantha Hastie earned a sixth-place finish (2:08.76). Lucy Petee finished first in the 800-meter run open section with a time of 2:10.06.
The Wolverines went 2-3-5-6 in the 3,000-meter run, with Lisa Luecke finishing second (9:58.33), Gabbie Michael finishing third (9:58.74), Ainsley Workman finishing fifth (10:01.35), and Leah Hill finishing (10:03.56). All four posted personal best times.
Emma Yungeberg placed first in the javelin throw with a personal best mark of 49.46m (162-3), earning the No. 2 mark in the program's performer's list.
U-M took the top-three spots in the shot put as Elizabeth Tapper finished first with a mark of 16.06m (52-8.75), Corinne Jemison finished second with a mark of 15.85m (52-0), and Trinity Franklin finished third with a mark of 15.58m (51-1.5).
Gabriella Newman set a new personal best in the high jump, clearing 1.69m (5-6.5) to finish sixth.
The Maize and Blue will open postseason competition at home, hosting the Big Ten Outdoor Championships May 10-12 at the U-M Track and Field Stadium.
