
Alsemgeest, Utassy Receive ACWPC All-America Recognition

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches released its 2024 Women's Division I All-America teams on Thursday (May 30) with Libby Alsemgeest and Kata Utassy of the University of Michigan capturing honorable mention accolades.
As a senior, Alsemgeest was dominant in the middle of the pool, accounting for 39 points (33 goals, six assists) and drawing 112 exclusions. She was a pest on the defensive end, tallying 20 steals and blocking one shot. For her efforts, the Hamilton, New Zealand, native was named to All-CWPA and CWPA All-Tournament first teams and the Peter J. Cutino Award Watch List.
Utassy put together a sparkling offensive season in her final campaign with the Maize and Blue, notching 104 points (66 goals, 38 assists) to tally more than 100 points in back-to-back seasons. Utassy was efficient with her shot, scoring on over half of her attempts. The awards came pouring in as she was named to the All-CWPA and CWPA All-Tournament first teams, and joined Alsemgeest on the Peter J. Cutino Award Watch List.
Michigan finished its season with an overall record of 21-11 and conference mark of 7-2.
