
Michigan Quintet Set to Compete at NCAA Outdoor Championships

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's track and field team will send five student-athletes -- Tom Brady (10,000-meter run), Zane Forist (discus throw), Nick Foster (1,500-meter run), Caleb Jarema (3,000-meter steeplechase), and Jake Wall (long jump) -- to Eugene, Ore., to compete at the NCAA Outdoor Championships on Wednesday (June 5) and Friday (June 7) at Hayward Field.
Notes
• Track action will kick off on Wednesday at 4:46 p.m. PDT with the 1,500-meter run while the long jump is set for 6:00 p.m. PDT as the only field event of the day. On Friday, the discus throw will open the day as the lone field event at 5:35 p.m. PDT and track action will begin with the 1,500-meter run at 6:12 p.m. PDT.
• Wall was the first Wolverine to punch a ticket to the NCAA Championships, finishing 10th in the long jump at the NCAA East Preliminary Round. The sophomore improved with every jump, starting out with a 7.13m (23 feet, 4.75 inches) on his first attempt and seeing a mark of 7.33m (24-0.75) on his second attempt. His final mark of 7.55m (24-9.25) was good for a personal best.
• Brady qualified for NCAAs with a sixth-place finish in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 29:16.82.
• Forist finished 12th overall in the discus throw at the Preliminary Round, with his last throw of 56.32m (184-9) being his best of the day and good for a trip to Oregon.
• Foster finished third overall in the 1,500-meter run first round with a time of 3:41.66 before securing a championship berth with a 16th-place finish and a time of 3:45.79 in the quarterfinals.
• Jarema earned a spot at the NCAA Championships for the first time in his career, finishing fourth in his heat and 11th overall in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 8:41.33.
