OTTAWA, Ontario -- Canada Soccer announced its 21-man roster Friday (July 12) ahead of the U20 CONCACAF Championship in Mexico with rising sophomore goalkeeper Isaiah Goldson earning a place on the team.
Canada joins the Dominican Republic, El Salvador and Honduras in Group B with preliminary round games getting underway on Saturday, July 20 at Estadio Sergio Leon Chavez in Iropuato.
Goldson is coming off an impressive freshman campaign for the Maize and Blue. The Oakville, Ontario, native landed on the Big Ten All-Freshman team and TopDrawerSoccer.com Midseason Freshman Top 100 list. He stopped more than 70 percent of the shots he faced in 14 appearances in 2023, tallying 49 saves. Goldson recorded five shutouts in 13 starts with the highlight coming in a seven-save effort in a scoreless draw against Indiana. He was stingy in conference play, allowing just over one goal per game in eight league starts.
Canada will open its CONCACAF Championship campaign with a matchup against Honduras on July 20. It will then take on the Dominican Republic on July 23 before rounding out group play with a match against El Salvador on July 26. Should Canada qualify, the knockout stages are set to being on July 30 with the quarterfinals.
