ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's soccer team (2-0-0) will battle its first ranked team of the season when it hosts on No. 19 Oregon State (1-1-0) on Friday (Aug. 30) at 7 p.m. and Bowling Green (2-0-0) on Monday (Sept. 2) at 2 p.m. at U-M Soccer Stadium. Notes
• Michigan is amid a seven-game homestand and has started 2-0 for the first time since the 2020-21 spring season. Both wins were decided by one goal with the crucial score coming in the second half of both contests.
• Michigan's three goals on the early season have come from different scorers. Charlie Lawrence tallied his first goal as a Wolverine in their 1-0 triumph over Loyola Chicago, and Jason Bucknor and Grayson Elmquist each found the back of the net in the 2-1 win against Oakland.
• The three goals were assisted by different players. Nicholas Cassiday found the crucial pass for Lawrence's score; Beto Soto and Bucknor each registered a helper against Oakland.
• In net, Hayden Evans and Isaiah Goldson each got a start over the weekend. Goldson tallied three saves and a shutout to deliver the win for U-M against Loyola Chicago. Evans allowed one goal but did not face another shot on target in the 2-1 decision against Oakland.
• U-M started three primary defenders for both matches as Will Baker, Matthew Fisher and Nolan Miller manned the middle for the Wolverines in the opening weekend. Both Baker and Fisher played the full 180 minutes and allowed a season-low eight shots by Oakland on Sunday (Aug. 25).
• Head coach Chaka Daley now owns 97 wins in his Michigan tenure and is three wins away from joining Steve Burns in the 100-win club as the coach of Michigan men's soccer.
• The Wolverines will face the Beavers for just the second time in program history with the first matchup ending in a 4-0 Michigan win in 2008. Oregon State checks in at No. 19 on the United Soccer Coaches poll and own a record of 1-1-0. In 2023, Oregon State advanced to the College Cup before falling to Notre Dame.
• U-M will take on Bowling Green for the 15th time with the series tied at 6-6-2. The Falcons took the most-recent meeting in Bowling Green, Ohio, by the score of 2-1 on Sept. 4, 2023.
• Following the pair of Labor Day weekend matchups, Michigan will host rival Detroit Mercy on Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. for Senior Day.
