ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The 20th-ranked University of Michigan men's basketball team (13-4, 5-1 Big Ten) will return to Ann Arbor for a second Sunday afternoon Big Ten battle as Northwestern (11-6, 2-4 Big Ten) comes to Crisler Center on Sunday (Jan. 19). Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. with a Big Ten Network broadcast with the team of Kevin Kugler and Jordan Taylor on the call.
Notes
• Michigan celebrates MLK Day early with no early game this upcoming week. The Wolverines will wear special shooting shirts celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
• U-M has sold out its fourth straight game and has five total those season. The Wolverines are 8-0 at Crisler Center.
• Michigan is shooting a nation- and Big Ten-best 51.5 percent from the field. U-M is second nationally and atop the Big Ten in effective field goal percentage at 60.0 percent, which adjusts field goal percentage to account that three-point field goals are worth more points.
• The Wolverines have made 10-plus three-pointers in six straight games. During this stretch, U-M has produced nearly half of its long-range baskets -- 76 of 168, including tying the program record with 19 against Western Kentucky.
• Vladislav Goldin's 65.5 shooting percentage ranks fourth nationally and second in the Big Ten. Former Wolverine legend Loy Vaught holds the all-time program record with 66.1 percent (1988-89).
• All five Michigan starters are averaging in double figures -- Goldin (15.6), Danny Wolf (13.0), Tre Donaldson (12.7), Roddy Gayle Jr. (11.9) and Nimari Burnett (10.6).
• Wolf leads the Big Ten with 10.1 rebounds per game. With 13.0 points per game, he has produced eight double-doubles, which ranks second in the Big Ten -- behind Northwestern's Brooks Barnhizer (9).
• Goldin shared Big Ten Player of the Week (Jan. 13) honors with Iowa's Payton Sandfort. Goldin closed his week averaging 27.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists while shooting 76.0 percent (19-for-25).
• Donaldson, who leads U-M with 73 assists (4.3 apg), has five-plus assists in each of his last four games -- at USC (6), at UCLA (7), Washington (6) and at Minnesota (5).
• Over the last six games, Burnett has five double-figure games -- going 26-for-38 (68.4 percent) from the field and 18-for-26 (69.2 percent) from long range.
• U-M's sixth man Will Tschetter scored 11 points (three three-pointers) in the first half at Minnesota to reach double figures for the fifth time. He finished with 15 points to tie his season high.
