
Wolverines to Host Rivalry Weekend With Blue Out vs. OSU, Maize Out vs. MSU

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan volleyball team (17-8, 7-7 Big Ten) hosts rivalry weekend, starting with Ohio State (5-17, 2-12 Big Ten) on Friday (Nov. 14) at 7 p.m. before taking on Michigan State (18-6, 8-6 Big Ten) at 2 p.m. on Sunday (Nov. 16). Both matches will take place at Crisler Center and will be streamed live on B1G+.
Notes
• Michigan is coming off a 2-0 Big Ten weekend spent on the East Coast. On Friday (Nov. 7), U-M took down Rutgers in a five-set match after dropping the first two sets. On Sunday (Nov. 9), Michigan swept Maryland, marking the first time since 2021 that the Wolverines have made a Big Ten opponent hit in the negatives. The Wolverines are currently 7-7 in Big Ten play with wins in five of their last six matches.
• As a team, Michigan ranks top five in the Big Ten in two NCAA-tracked statistical categories, as well as sixth in one, and seventh in five more. U-M ranks fifth in the Big Ten, and 16th in the nation, in hitting percentage (.281) as well as total kills (1,229).
• Serena Nyambio has continued to lead U-M's defensive front with 11 blocks over the weekend, bringing her season total to 117. This mark ranks second in the Big Ten behind Washington's Katy Wessels (122). Nyambio is also hitting .416 on the season, which is good for fourth in the Big Ten and 19th nationally. She sits in fifth all-time in career hitting percentage with a .317 mark over her four seasons.
• Allison Jacobs ranks top five in the Big Ten in attacks per set (fourth, 10.38), kills per set (fifth, 3.94), points (fourth, 410), points per set (fifth, 4.56), total attacks (third, 934), and total kills (fourth, 355). She is also third on the team in digs (168) and fourth in total blocks (49). Jacobs led the team over the weekend with 28 total kills and has double-digit kills in 19 matches this season. She is just 10 kills away from 1,000 in her collegiate career.
• Ella Demetrician recorded her third straight double-double against Rutgers with 16 kills and 10 digs against the Scarlet Knights. She is second on the team in kills (205), and fourth on the team in digs (138). In Big Ten play, Demetrician has 137 kills and averages 2.74 kills per set, both second at U-M.
• Graduate student Maddi Cuchran's 305 digs on the season put her at sixth in the conference. With 980 digs throughout her career, she is only 61 away from entering the top 15 in career digs at U-M. She has played in every match over the past three seasons, missing only two sets.
• Morgan Burke leads the Wolverines with 633 assists on the season, including 49 over this past weekend. This brings her career total to 2,289, which puts her ninth on the U-M leaderboard for career assists and is 78 away from Scotte Johnson. Burke is also second on the team in digs with 191 this season. She has double-digit assists in every match this season, 15 or more in 23 matches, 20 or more in 16 matches and 25 or more in 10, including three of the last four.
• Jenna Hanes had played in just five sets entering her sophomore season but has started every match this season. Since conference play started, Hanes has played in all but two sets and recorded 77 kills on 138 swings with just seven errors for a .507 hitting percentage. On the season, she is hitting .468 with 142 kills and has added 86 blocks. She tallied 11 kills at Rutgers for the first double-digit-kill match of her career.
• Ohio State is 5-17 overall and 2-12 in the Big Ten. Its conference wins came over the previous weekend with five-set wins over Maryland and Rutgers. The Wolverines have already played OSU this season, sweeping the Buckeyes on Oct. 24 while hitting .471. U-M trails Ohio State 60-30 in the all-time series.
• Michigan State is 18-6 overall and 8-6 in the Big Ten. The Spartans are tied for sixth in the Big Ten and have one ranked win, sweeping then-No. 22 Indiana on Oct. 19. U-M has also faced MSU earlier this season, being swept by the Spartans in East Lansing on Sept. 27. Michigan trails Michigan State 57-52 in the all time series, with the Wolverines' last win coming at home last season.
