
Michigan to Head to Indiana for NCAA Great Lakes Regional

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 26-ranked University of Michigan men's cross country team will travel to Evansville, Ind., for the NCAA Great Lakes Regional at 11 a.m. CT on Friday (Nov. 14). The 10K race will be held at the Angel Mounds course and broadcast live on ESPNU.
Notes
• Michigan is currently ranked No. 5 in the latest regional rankings and No. 26 in the National Coaches' Poll, falling one spot from No. 25 in Week 5.
• The Maize and Blue opened postseason competition at the Big Ten Championships on Oct. 31, finishing fourth with 100 points behind Oregon, Michigan State, and Wisconsin. Oregon also claimed the individual title.
• Three Wolverines placed in the top 15, led by Nathan Lopez in 11th (23:41.6), followed by Trent McFarland in 14th (23:46.9) and Luke Venhuizen in 15th (23:47.7). All three earned All-Big Ten second team honors for their top-20 finishes.
• Senior Kyler McNatt was Michigan's recipient of the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award, recognized for his good citizenship, academic standing, and exemplary sportsmanship and work ethic.
• The Wolverines did not qualify for the NCAA Championships last year after placing sixth at regionals. U-M looks to return to the NCAA Championships this season following recent appearances in 2021, 2022, and 2023.
• Luke Venhuizen led the Wolverines at the 2024 Regionals, finishing 22nd (29:43.9) to earn All-Region honors. Trent McFarland (29:51.8) and Jack Spamer (29:52.1) also finished in the top 30, placing 28th and 29th, respectively.
• The top two teams in each regional championship automatically advance to the NCAA Championships in Columbia, Mo., next Saturday (Nov. 22). If Michigan is not among the top two, it will learn its postseason fate during the NCAA Selection Show on Saturday (Nov. 15) at 5 p.m. ET on NCAA.com, where 14 additional teams will be selected at large to complete the 32-team field.
