ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 15-ranked University of Michigan football team lost 27-9 to No. 1 Ohio State in its final game of the regular season on Saturday (Nov. 29) at Michigan Stadium. This marks Michigan's first loss in "The Game" since 2019, breaking a four-game win streak against the Buckeyes. Michigan mustered just 163 yards in the contest, its lowest total of 2025.
After receiving the opening kickoff, the Wolverines were first on the scoreboard as Dominic Zvada drilled a 45-yard field goal. Jordan Marshall was key to the three points, totaling all 48 yards on the drive, including a 36-yard carry on the first play from scrimmage.
The Maize and Blue added to its lead, getting the ball back after just 15 seconds as Jyaire Hill intercepted Julian Sayin's second pass attempt of the game. The turnover alongside another explosive run by Marshall allowed Zvada to extend the lead to 6-0 with a 25-yarder.
Alongside Hill, Jimmy Rolder was a bright spot for the Wolverines defensively, collecting a career-best 12 tackles with 1.5 for loss.
This contest marked the first loss for Michigan after scoring first, and the first loss at Michigan Stadium this season.
After the interception, Michigan struggled with the Buckeye offense, which came into the game as the 10th-highest scoring offense in FBS at 37.9 points per game. They punted only twice in the effort, putting up 419 total yards: the second most allowed by the Wolverines all year.
Especially evident was the dominance in the passing game as the Maize and Blue was outgained 233-63 through the air.
Michigan added just three points after the first quarter, as Zvada added his third made field goal of the half on Michigan's fourth possession, hitting from 47 yards out.
Perhaps the biggest difference in the game came on third and fourth downs, with Ohio State going 10-for-16 and a touchdown on third and fourth while holding Michigan to just 1-for-10.
After going into halftime with an eight-point lead, and adding on with a 50-yard passing touchdown in the third, the Buckeyes turned to the ground game to close out the game. They possessed the ball for 23:40 in the second half while adding 110 yards on the ground, closing out their regular season with a second-half shutout.
With the regular season now completed, the Wolverines await bowl game announcements to see who and where they will be playing this postseason.
