ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The reigning NCAA champion University of Michigan men's gymnastics team will host its annual Maize and Blue Intrasquad exhibition on Saturday (Dec. 6) at 2 p.m. in Cliff Keen Arena. Admission to the meet is free of charge.
Notes
• The intrasquad meet will follow the traditional format, with Team Blue starting on floor exercise and Team Maize starting on pommel horse. Three scores will count on each event, and Team Blue will open the meet as the designated home team.
• U-M men's gymnastics alumni Logan McKeown and Rithik Puri will serve as emcees for the Maize and Blue exhibition. Both were members of the 2025 national champion Wolverine squad and earned All-America citations.
• Michigan returns to competition after a historic 2025 campaign, which included a fifth straight Big Ten Championship and seventh NCAA Championship, the team's first since 2014.
• At the NCAA Championships, hosted at Crisler Center, senior Fred Richard claimed the all-around title, while fellow Wolverine and 2024 Team USA Olympic medalist Paul Juda won the parallel bars title. Michigan clinched the championship with a team score of 332.224 in the team finals, edging out second-place finisher Stanford by just 0.163 points.
• Richard earned seven All-America honors in the all-around and all six events, becoming the first NCAA gymnast to do so in a single season. The Maize and Blue combined for 17 All-America honors last season, bringing Michigan's all-time total to 292.
• Richard also earned his third straight Big Ten Gymnast of the Championships honor after taking home the individual all-around title at the conference championships. Evgeny Siminiuc claimed the individual high bar title while also securing silver on parallel bars.
• Five more Wolverines took home hardware at the Big Ten Championships, including current U-M gymnasts Zach Granados (bronze, pommel horse), Solen Chiodi (bronze, vault) and Pierce Wolfgang (bronze, high bar).
• Head coach Yuan Xiao was named 2025 Big Ten Coach of the Year, his fourth consecutive honor, and College Gymnastics Association Coach of the Year. Jordan Gaarenstroom and Juha Tanskanen were recognized as Assistant Coaches of the Year.
• Saturday's Maize and Blue Intrasquad will offer a first look at Wolverine freshmen Joseph Hale, Adam Lakomy, Eli Osuna and Chase Pappas. Senior captain Landen Blixt will also make his return to the lineup after a season-ending injury kept him from competing in all but one meet in 2025.
• The Wolverines will open the 2026 regular season on Jan. 10 at 2 p.m., taking on Greenville and Simpson at Cliff Keen Arena.
