
Three First-Place Finishes Pace Michigan at Blue and Gold Invitational

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The University of Michigan women's track and field team opened the indoor season on Friday (Dec. 5), with a contingent of Wolverines competing -- and ending the day with three first-place finshes -- at the Blue and Gold Invitational, hosted by Notre Dame at the Loftus Sports Center.
A trio of Wolverines went 1-2-3 in the 300-meter dash, with Payton Smith (37.74 seconds), Sidney Green (38.95) and Trinity Henderson (39.31) taking the top spots. Smith saw a personal-best time, while Green came 0.59 seconds and Henderson 0.95 seconds shy of their personal bests, respectively.
Brooke Johnston (9:31.66), Rylee Tolson (9:37.89) and Sophie Cloutier (9:42.20) finished as the top three finishers of the 3,000-meter run, while Jadyn Zdanavage (9:47.77) finished fifth. Gabbie Michael finished sixth with a time of 9:48.91, Katelyn Watkins finished eighth in 9:53.81, and Caroline Beiting finished 10th with a time of 9:55.08. Cloutier and Beiting made their Maize and Blue debuts, and Zdanavage, Michael and Watkins all posted personal-best times.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Henderson, Pricco, Green and Smith finished first with a time of 3:44.64.
Lauren Bickerdt made her collegiate debut, finishing fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.82. In the mile run, Hannah Pricco placed fifth (4:49.83) and Mara Longenecker placed sixth (5:01.23).
A group of Wolverines will compete at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener at noon on Saturday (Dec. 6) inside the Boston University Track and Tennis Center.
