CLEMSON, S.C -- The University of Michigan men's track and field team closed out the weekend at the Tiger Paw Invitational on Saturday (Feb. 15) at the Clemson Indoor Track and Field Complex).
In the 200-meter dash, Lawrence Gilliam equaled his personal-best time of 22.39 seconds to finish in 34th place in the Orange section of the event. In the Purple section, Jacob Koerner finished 30th (21.95) and Nick Butler-Simpson finished 32nd (22.18). Butler-Simpson's time was a personal best.
Liam Kinney set a personal best in the pole vault, clearing 5.03 meters (16 feet, 6 inches) to tie for third. Kinney is just 0.05m away from tying for the 10th-best mark on the program performers list. Cole Sheldon cleared 4.73m (15-6.25) to finish 12th.
Two Wolverines finished in the top 10 of the triple jump, with Berachiah Ajala finishing sixth (15.40m/50-6.25) and Tianhao Wei finishing eighth (15.35m/50-4.5). Wei's mark is a season best and 0.01m from tying his personal best.
John McNeil cleared 2.11m (6-11) to tie his season best and finish sixth in the high jump.
Freshman Josh Huisman set a personal best in the shot put with a mark of 17.99m (59-0.25), just 0.06m shy of tying the 10th best mark on the program performers list. Zane Forist placed ninth with a mark of 16.96m (55-7.75).
Michigan will close out its regular-season indoor slate next weekend, hosting the Silverston Invitational on Friday (Feb. 21) before sending a distance medley relay team to the Alex Wilson Invitational hosted by Notre Dame on Saturday (Feb. 22).
