
U-M to Close Out Indoor Regular Season with Silverston, Alex Wilson Invites

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's track and field team will close out the regular season with a pair of meets, hosting the Silverston Invitational on Friday (Feb. 21) at the U-M Indoor Track Building and sending a distance medley relay team to the Alex Wilson Invitational hosted by Notre Dame on Saturday (Feb. 22) at the Loftus Sports Center. On Friday, field action will begin at 4 p.m. and track action at 4:20 p.m., while the DMR team will race at noon on Saturday in South Bend, Ind.

• The Wolverines split between a pair of meets last weekend, sending the distance squad to the David Hemery Valentine Invitational at Boston University, while the rest of the team went to the Tiger Paw Invitational at Clemson.
• The 800-meter run squad stayed ranked No. 4 in the latest USTFCCCA Event Squad rankings.
• Trent McFarland continues to have an impressive season, running his third sub-four-minute mile with a personal-best time of 3:58.49. McFarland's time is No. 8 on the program performers list and No. 16 in the Big Ten.
• In the 5,000-meter run, Heath McAllister (13:56.42), Luke Venhuizen (13:58.62), Nathan Lopez (13:59.00), and Nolan Clark (14:00.56) all logged personal-best times.
• At the Tiger Paw Invitational, Nick Butler-Simpson set a pair of personal bests in the 200-meter dash (22.18) and the 400-meter dash (48.38), while Lawrence Gilliam equaled his 200-meter dash personal best of 22.39 seconds and set a personal best in the 400-meter dash (48.03).
• Liam Kinney cleared a personal-best 5.03 meters (16 feet, 6 inches) in the pole vault, coming just 0.05m away from tying the No. 10 mark on the program performers list. The mark is No. 20 in the conference.
• Freshman Josh Huisman came 0.06m shy of a No. 10 mark on the program performers list, throwing for a personal-best 17.99m (59-0.25) in the shot put.
• Eli Winter threw for a personal-best 20.75 meters (68-1) in the weight throw to finish eighth and come in at No. 6 on the program performers list. Winter's mark is ninth in the league.
