ATHENS, Ga. -- The University of Michigan softball team was forced to cancel its Red & Black Showcase finale against No. 10-ranked Georgia, originally set for 1 p.m., due to persistent rain throughout the day. All three games scheduled for today were wiped out.
The Georgia contest was to be a rematch of the tournament opener on Thursday (Feb. 13), which Michigan originally dropped to the Bulldogs, 3-2, after its late comeback fell just short. The Wolverines blanked both Longwood, 8-0 in five innings, and Western Carolina, 6-0, in tournament action yesterday (Saturday, Feb. 14).
It is the Wolverines' first game lost to weather this season.
Michigan will close out its Peach State weekend with a 1 p.m. game at Georgia State tomorrow (Sunday, Feb. 16) at Bob Heck Softball Stadium in Atlanta.
