ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 7-ranked University of Michigan men's gymnastics team defeated Illinois 322.100-315.450 on Saturday (Feb. 8) at Cliff Keen Arena in the teams' second meeting this season.
Michigan led through the entire meet and claimed five event titles, sweeping the podium three times. Fred Richard picked up a pair of event titles on floor exercise and high bar, while Rithik Puri, Charlie Larson and Logan McKeown each won one.

Floor Exercise
Michigan dominated the event, sweeping the podium with Richard's 14.200 leading the way. Jake Islam placed second with a score of 13.950, earning a stick bonus, while freshman Solen Chiodi came in third, notching a score of 13.900. » U-M leads, 55.300-51.850
Pommel Horse
Aaronson Mansberger scored a team-best 14.150 to place second overall and come 0.300 points from tying his career best. Illinois -- which leads the nation on the event -- outscored U-M in the event, but the Wolverines hung on to a 1.200-point overall lead thanks to a strong first rotation. » U-M leads 107.700-106.500
Still Rings
Michigan once again swept the podium on rings. Rithik Puri earned his first event title of 2025 with a season-high score of 13.650. Paul Juda finished second (13.450) and Akshay Puri finished third (13.400) as the Wolverines began to widen their lead at the halfway point. » U-M leads 161.000-157.750
Vault
Larson took his second event title of the season and first on vault, posting a career-high 14.300. Islam placed third for his second podium finish of the day (13.450), while second- and fourth-place finishes for Illinois were enough for the Fighting Illini to win the event and cut into the U-M lead. » U-M leads 210.600-209.300.
Parallel Bars
Michigan took the first four spots with McKeown leading the way with his season-high score of 14.550. Richard took second (14.450), Juda was third (14.00) and Evgeny Siminiuc fourth (13.900). The Wolverines extend their lead by 4.700 points heading into the final event. » U-M leads 267.500-262.800
High Bar
