
Michigan to Head to Top-Ranked Oklahoma for Tri-Meet

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 6-ranked University of Michigan men's gymnastics team will hit the road to face No. 1 Oklahoma and No. 14 Simpson in Norman, Okla. on Saturday (Feb. 15) at 6 p.m. (CT).
Notes
• The Maize and Blue (5-2, 1-1) is coming off a decisive 322.100-319.000 home victory over No. 2 Illinois on Feb. 8. U-M claimed five event titles and swept the podium on three events.
• Junior Fred Richard made his Big Ten season debut against the Fighting Illini, taking the floor exercise (14.200) and high bar (14.700) titles. Richard's high bar score is the highest of any gymnast this season.
• Transfer Charlie Larson won his first vault title for the Wolverines with a season-high score of 14.300. Larson is second in the nation on the floor with an average of 14.017, just 0.166 points behind the nation leader.
• Rithik Puri earned his first event title of the season on the still rings with a season-high score of 13.650, ranking 14th in the nation with an average score of 13.500. Paul Juda finished second (13.450) and Akshay Puri finished third (13.400) for the Michigan podium sweep.
• The team earned another podium sweep on the parallel bars, with Logan McKeown (14.550) taking the title, Richard finishing second (14.450), and Juda finishing third (14.000). McKeown's score is the highest in the nation by any gymnast.
• U-M leads the nation on the parallel bars with an average score of 55.433 and a nation-leading high score of 56.900 against the Fighting Illini. McKeown leads the nation on the event while Evgeny Siminiuc sits in eighth. The team comes in at No. 2 on the high bar and No. 3 on the floor exercise.
• Michigan will face Simpson for the second time this season after hosting the Storm for a tri-meet in the season-opener on Jan. 11, sweeping the meet and defeating Simpson 310.900-287.400.
• This is the first matchup of the season between the Wolverines and the Sooners, who sit 8-1 on the season. Oklahoma's lone loss came against Stanford at the Rocky Mountain Open on Jan. 18. The team leads the nation on the floor exercise, still rings, and high bar. OU is unbeaten against their last 76 regular season opponents, encompassing 64 consecutive regular season meets, inside McCasland Field House, dating back to the 2007 season, and its only loss in the field house came against Stanford in the 2024 MPSF Championship.
• Four Sooners are ranked in the top 10 on the floor exercise, the still rings, and the high bar. Emre Dodanli (14.033) and Kelton Christiansen (13.950) rank first and second on the high bar, respectively.
