
Wolverines to Wrap Road Swing Through Indiana Against Boilermakers, Hoosiers

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 22-ranked University of Michigan men's tennis team (9-7, 3-1 Big Ten) caps off its four-match road swing this weekend facing Purdue (9-4, 1-3 Big Ten) at the Schwartz Tennis Center and Indiana (9-6, 0-4 Big Ten) at the IU Tennis Center. The Wolverines and Boilermakers face off on Friday (March 21) at 4 p.m. before the Hoosiers host the Wolverines on Sunday (March 23) at noon.
Notes
• Michigan enters the weekend with a 9-7 overall record and ranked No. 22 in this week's ITA national poll. The Wolverines are 3-1 in the Big Ten, sitting in a four-way tie for fourth place in the 14-team conference.
• Benjamin Kittay (No. 64) and Gavin Young (No. 85) are ranked singles players for Michigan. The duo, the national doubles runner-up in the fall, is currently ranked No. 7. Kittay and Patorn Hanchaikul are ranked No. 85 in doubles.
• Michigan has not lost to Purdue since the 2004 season, stringing together 21 straight victories. The last five matches have all been shutouts. The Wolverines hold an 80-10 record in the all-time series with Purdue. The Boilermakers have one ranked singles player in Aleksa Krivokapic.
• The Wolverines have won 11 straight against Indiana and are 75-16-1 in the series. The Hoosiers have one ranked doubles team in No. 11 Facundo Yunis and Jip Van Assendelft.
• Hanchaikul clinched Michigan's win over Wisconsin on Sunday (March 16), winning at No. 3 singles. He is one win away from reaching 25 career dual singles victories. Hanchiakul has winning records at every position he has played (Nos. 3-6) at Michigan.
• Nicholas Steiglehner recorded his 25th dual singles win on Sunday in his straight-set win at Wisconsin. It marked his first match and win at the No. 4 position this season. He is 25-18 in dual singles.
• Will Cooksey played in his first match at No. 1 singles on Sunday at Wisconsin. He ranks second on the team in dual singles victories in his career with 32, 10 behind Young. Cooksey is the team leader in overall singles wins across the fall and spring with a 16-7 mark.
• Michigan has used 10 different doubles pairs this spring. The most frequent pairings are: Kittay/Hanchaikul (5-3), followed by Bjorn Swenson and Mert Oral (4-3) and Cooksey and Alex Cairo (2-4). The Wolverines are 5-3 when it wins the doubles point and have split, going 4-4 when it loses the point.
