ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 10-ranked University of Michigan rowing team will head to the Griggs Reservoir in Columbus, Ohio, for the Big Ten/ACC Challenge on Saturday (March 29). The Wolverines will race against No. 15 Ohio State, No. 13 Virginia and Oklahoma across two sessions.
Notes
• U-M enters the second week of the season ranked No. 10 in the CRCA Poll.
• The following boats are expected to race twice each, competing across a morning and an afternoon session: 1V8, 2V8, 1V4, 2V4, 3V4, 1N8, and 2N8. Races will begin at 9 a.m and be available to stream with a subscription to B1G+.
• Michigan will meet host school Ohio State along with Virginia at the event, who tied with one another for 12th place overall at last year's NCAA Championships to finish 22 points behind the seventh-place Wolverines. U-M will also race against Oklahoma, a team it has not rowed against since the 2014 NCAA Championships.
• U-M, OSU, and Virginia have made an early-season race tradition in recent years, rotating trips between Columbus and Charlottesville, Virginia. Last year, also in Columbus, U-M earned first-place finishes in nine-of-14 races against the Buckeyes, Cavaliers, and Duke Blue Devils, including wins in both 1V8 events.
• Following one first and one second-place finish last weekend at the Big Ten/Ivy Dust Up, the Michigan 1V4 was honored as one of four Big Ten Boats of the Week. Across the event's morning and afternoon sessions, athletes competing with the 1V4 included Leah Miller, Madeson Scott, Jana Peachey, Emma Kerkau, Madeleine Lauriault and coxswain Talia Daft.
• Transfer student Leia Till (1V8) and first-year student-athletes Deanna Macolino (2V8), Olive Pascoe (2V8), Daft (coxswain, 1V4), and Sinéad Erasmus (2V4), made their Michigan debuts last weekend at the Big Ten/Ivy Dust Up.
