Notes
• Michigan is coming off a 5-2 win over Western Michigan as it continues its three-match homestand. The Wolverines are ranked No. 18 in the ITA computerized rankings with a 6-6 overall record. At home, the team boasts a 3-1 mark.
• Last season, Michigan went 8-1 in the Big Ten. Its lone loss came at then-No. 1 ranked Ohio State. The Wolverines reached the Big Ten Tournament championship, taking down Northwestern and Michigan State en route to the title match, ultimately falling to OSU.
• Michigan and Oregon have played each other just one time, during the abbreviated 2019-2020 season when the Wolverines made the trip out West. The then-ranked No. 17 Wolverines won a 5-2 match. During that same trip, Michigan posted a 7-0 victory over Washington -- and grabbed two more wins in 2023 (5-2) and 2024 (4-1).
• Oregon is 8-4 on the season, with all eight wins coming on its home court. Lenn Luemkemann is ranked No. 116 in singles and comes into the weekend with a 6-4 record at No. 1 singles. Washington has two ranked singles players in Cesar Bouchelaghem (68) and Dzianis Zharyn (98). The pair are also ranked in doubles at No. 55. Overall, the Huskies are 8-2 and have had all eight wins come from home matches.
• Benjamin Kittay and Gavin Young are both ranked in singles, with Kittay at No. 61 and Young at No. 87. Kittay is 6-4 in dual singles, with a 3-3 record at No. 1 and 3-1 at No. 2, while facing seven ranked opponents. He began the spring season with a career-best five-match win streak. Young has had limited playing time due to an injury and is 2-2 this season after an 8-4 fall season.
• Kittay is a member of two ranked doubles, as he and Young are No. 6 after reaching the national championship in the fall. The two have not competed as a pair this spring. Instead, it's been Kittay and Patorn Hanchaikul, who have played primarily at No. 1 and 2 -- and is 5-3 -- have two wins over ranked duos.
• Michigan is 4-0 against teams unranked teams this season. Neither Oregon nor Washington is ranked in the top 25.
• After this weekend, the Wolverines will be on the road for the next two weeks. They'll return home to take on Ohio State on Friday (March 28) and Penn State on Sunday (March 30) at the Varsity Tennis Center.
