ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 12-ranked University of Michigan rowing team travels to Sarasota, Florida, for the Big Ten Invitational on Friday and Saturday (April 18-19). The Wolverines will host the event at Nathan Benderson Park, which features a 23-team field, including 13 programs nationally ranked by the CRCA. Races will begin at 8:30 a.m. each day.
Notes
• Michigan improved to No. 12 in the CRCA Poll entering the fifth week of the rowing season. U-M is one of six nationally ranked Big Ten programs (Washington, Rutgers, Ohio State, Indiana and USC), all of which are competing at the Big Ten Invitational.
• The Wolverines are sending a full team to Sarasota, with the following boats scheduled to race three times each (twice Friday, once Saturday): 1V8, 2V8, 1V4, 2V4, 3V4, 1N8 and 2N8.
• The field includes all 11 Big Ten teams, as well as 12 other schools. Among the nationally ranked opponents are Tennessee, Brown, Penn, Duke, Oregon State, Alabama and Harvard.
• Races will be streamed live on RHStv. Fans can watch via Roku, Amazon Fire and Apple TV. A live chat feature will be available during the broadcast, and races will also be available on demand. Live results will be posted on HereNow.com.
• This year marks the fifth Big Ten Invitational and Michigan's first time hosting. It is also the fourth time the regatta has been held at Nathan Benderson Park, one of the nation's premier rowing venues.
• This weekend's regatta marks the final regular-season competition for U-M and the team's last opportunity to test its speed before the Big Ten Championships next month.
