
McFarland, Herger Set Top-10 Program Times as U-M Splits Across Two Meets

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's track and field team split between a pair of meets on Friday (April 18), concluding the Wake Forest Invitational at Ketner Stadium and opening the Tom Jones Invitational hosted by Florida at Percy Beard Track, with a pair of top-10 program times set in Winston-Salem.
Wake Forest Invitational
Trent McFarland (3:38.45) and Brendan Herger (3:38.72) posted personal bests in the 1,500-meter run invite section, finishing second and third, respectively. The pair set top-10 times on the program performers list for the second straight meet, with McFarland moving up to No. 3 and Herger entering the list at No. 4.
Camden Law won the 1,500-meter run open section with a time of 3:42.15, while Aiden Sullivan finished just behind him in second (3:42.18). Henry Johnson finished sixth (3:43.78), Jonathan Miles finished 14th (3:45.87) and Marcus Reilly finished 28th (3:49.52). Law, Sullivan, and Miles posted personal bests, while Johnson logged a season-best time. Law was just 0.09 seconds shy of the 10th fastest time on the program performers list.
In the 800-meter run invite section, John O'Reilly finished 20th with a season-best time of 1:49.31 and Miles Brown finished 23rd with a time of 1:50.42.
Tom Jones Invitational
Liam Kinney matched his personal best in the pole vault, clearing 5.05 meters (16 feet, 6.75 inches) to finish sixth.
In the long jump, John McNeil finished seventh (7.23m/23-8.75) and Tianhao Wei finished ninth (7.13m/23-4.75).
Tyler Baker threw for a personal best in the javelin throw with a mark of 47.47m (155-9) to finish 17th.
U-M will close out the weekend with day two of the Tom Jones Invitational on Saturday (April 19), beginning at 9 a.m. with the discus throw at Percy Beard Track.
