PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- The University of Michigan men's track and field team opened up competition at the Penn Relays on Thursday (April 24) at Franklin Field.
A trio of Wolverines opened the day in the 1,500-meter run, with Riley Flemington's sixth-place finish (3:44.70) leading the contingent. Marcus Reilly finished 28th with a time of 3:50.76 and Henry Johnson finished 33rd with a time of 3:58.57. Reilly was 1.24 seconds shy of his personal best.
Caleb Jarema placed fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a season-best time of 8:39.69 to come just under two seconds from his personal best. Ian Hill and Peter Baracco made their career debut in the event, finishing 32nd (9:06.35) and 37th (9:25.10), respectively.
Kyler McNatt closed the night in the 5,000-meter run, placing 44th with a personal-best time of 14:25.34 to shave nearly 15 seconds off his previous best.
U-M will close the weekend on Saturday (April 26) at a pair of meets, heading to Allendale, Mich., for the GVSU Extra Weekend meet at 1 p.m. and concluding the Penn Relays at 1:05 p.m.
