EUGENE, Ore. -- The University of Michigan women's track and field team continued competition at the NCAA Outdoor Championships on Friday (June 12) at Hayward Field with Clare McNamara participating in the first day of the heptathlon.
McNamara sat in 24th with 1,583 points after the first two events, running a personal-best 14.96 seconds (+2.9m/s) in the 100-meter hurdles and tying her season best in the high jump by clearing 1.60 meters (5 feet, 3 inches).
The graduate student remained in 24th with 3,125 points to close out the day, throwing for 13.09m (42-11.5) in the shot put and running 25.86 in the 200-meter dash. The time was just 0.34 seconds shy of her personal best.
The Wolverines will close out the NCAA Championships on Saturday (June 14) with the three remaining heptathlon events and Savannah Sutherland in the 400-meter hurdles finals. Action at Hayward Field will start at 3:30 p.m. PT with the heptathlon long jump.
