
Three Wolverines Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan baseball junior pitchers David Lally Jr. and Max Debiec and graduate student Matt Spear have been named to the College Sports Communicators 2025 Academic All-District Baseball Team, the organization announced Tuesday (June 3).
To receive All-District recognition, student-athletes must have completed at least one year of classes at their institution, have a 3.50 cumulative grade-point average and meet athletic requirements.
Lally, pursuing a degree in general studies, led Michigan in innings pitched with 76.1 and struck out 54. He compiled a 4.95 earned-run average across 15 appearances (13 starts) and tossed two complete games with one shutout.
Debiec, who is also pursuing a degree in general studies, held a 2.57 ERA across 19 appearances and 28 innings. He struck out 20 batters and opponents batted just .179 against him. Debiec earned three saves this season and started two games as a hitter, tallying three hits.
Spear was enrolled in the School of Social Work after graduating from San Jose State last year. He appeared in 48 games this season with 37 starts, mostly coming from behind the plate. Spear hit .231 with 25 runs and 25 RBIs, including a three-hit, three-RBI day in the season opener against Virginia. He was a strong defender as well, with a .993 fielding percentage and caught 12 would-be base stealers.
