
Awards and Honors: Rolder Butkus Award Semifinalist; Bredeson Burlsworth Trophy Nominee

Nov. 4 -- Jimmy Rolder, Max Bredeson
Butkus Award Semifinalist
» Jimmy Rolder was announced as one of 12 semifinalists for the Butkus Award, presented annually to the most impactful linebacker in college football.
» Rolder is second among Wolverine defenders with 52 tackles this season, double his previous career best, with 5.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, one interception and one fumble recovery -- all career-high marks.
» He had a standout effort at Michigan State in October, racking up 10 tackles, two for loss, one sack, one fumble recovery and a pass breakup.
» Rolder is U-M's first semifinalist for the award since Jordan Glasgow (2019); Erick Anderson (1991) is U-M's lone winner of the Butkus Award.
Burlsworth Trophy Nominee
• Max Bredeson was recognized as one of 79 Division I players nominated for the 2025 Burlsworth Trophy.
• The Burlsworth Trophy is given to the most outstanding football player in America who began his career as a walk-on and has shown outstanding performance on the field.
• Bredeson began at U-M as a walk-on before earning a scholarship during the 2022 season, his sophomore year.
• The Hartland, Wis., native is a two-time captain at Michigan and has appeared in 52 games in his career with 17 starts as a tight end and fullback.
• Bredeson is a key to U-M's 12th-ranked rushing attack (FBS) which averages 223.8 yards per game and has produced 10 different 100-yard rushing performances in 2025.

Nov. 3 -- Jordan Marshall
Co-Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week
» Jordan Marshall was named Co-Offensive Player of the Week by the Big Ten, sharing the honor with Illinois quarterback Luke Altmyer.>
» Marshall was recognized following his 25-carry, 185-yard, three-touchdown effort against Purdue in which he set career highs in all three categories during his third career start.>
» It was Marshall's third straight game with 100-plus rushing yards and at least one touchdown (65 carries, 428 yards, five touchdowns in that span). He has 6.6 yards per carry and zero yards lost during that stretch.>
» The Cincinnati, Ohio, native had a 54-yard touchdown run - his third of 50-plus yards this season - and also added a career-long 25-yard reception.>
» The honor is the first of Marshall's career and the fourth by a Wolverine this season.
Oct. 27 -- Jimmy Rolder, Justice Haynes
Defensive Player of the Week, Co-Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week
» The Big Ten named Jimmy Rolder its Defensive Player of the Week and Justice Haynes Co-Offensive Player of the Week.
» Rolder had a career-high 10 tackles (nine solo) with a fumble recovery, two tackles for loss, one sack, and one pass breakup.
» Rolder's performance included his first career fumble recovery on the third play of the game, a third-down stop in the final two minutes of the first half, a fourth-down pass breakup and a stop on a two-point conversion attempt.
» Haynes rushed a career-high 26 times for 152 yards and scored twice on the ground; he also added three receptions for 19 yards.
» It was the third multi-touchdown outing of the season for Haynes, and the first multi-rushing touchdown game in the series by a Wolverine since 2020 (Blake Corum).
» Haynes' effort was part of a rushing attack that totaled 276 yards, the most for U-M in the series against Michigan State since 1994.
» This marks the first career Big Ten honor for both players and gives U-M at least one award winner in each category so far this year.
Oct. 20 -- Derrick Moore
East-West Shrine Bowl Breakout Defensive Player of the Week
» Derrick Moore was recognized by the East-West Shrine Bowl as their Defensive Breakout Player of the Week.
» The award is given out to an all-star game-eligible defensive player who displayed the most NFL traits that week.
» Moore posted two sacks and a forced fumble among three total tackles in the win against Washington.
» It marked his second career game with multiple sacks (2.0 against Alabama in the 2024 ReliaQuest Bowl).
» Moore and the defense pitched a second-half shutout against Washington and forced three turnovers.
Oct. 15 -- Michigan Offensive Line
Joe Moore Award Midseason Honor Roll
» The Joe Moore Award honors the best offensive line in college football, and the award included the Wolverines' unit in its midseason Top-20 Honor Roll.
» Despite four different starting lineups across the first six games due to injuries, the unit has helped lead the way offensively for U-M.
» U-M ranks 19th in the FBS in rushing offense (216.3) with 17 rushing touchdowns to eight sacks allowed. Michigan ranks 25th in tackles for loss allowed (4.17 per game).
» The Wolverines are one of seven offensive units in the nation with six-plus plays of 40-plus yards on the ground.
» Tackles Evan Link and Andrew Sprague, and center Greg Crippen have started all six games. The guard spots have been manned by Nathan Efobi (four starts), Giovanni El-Hadi (three) and Jake Guarnera (three), while tackle Blake Frazier (two) has also been a regular contributor.
Oct. 15 -- Justice Haynes
Sporting News Midseason All-America Team
» Running back Justice Haynes was named to the Midseason All-America Team by the Sporting News, one of the five major publications that make up the Consensus All-America Team at year's end.
» Haynes leads the U-M rushing attack, averaging 117.5 yards per game (fourth, FBS) and 7.42 yards per carry (sixth, FBS) with eight rushing touchdowns (fifth, FBS).
» He also leads the Big Ten in rushing yards (705) despite ranking fifth in the league in carries.
» Through six games, Haynes has 100-plus rushing yards and one or more rushing touchdowns in five contests, and he leads the offense with seven plays of 20-plus yards.
» Haynes is one of two FBS backs with five runs of 40-plus yards this season and he is one of two backs with four runs of 50-plus yards.
Oct. 14 -- Ernest Hausmann
Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year Semifinalist
» Ernest Hausmann is one of 20 semifinalists for the 2025 Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year Award.
» The Award recognizes those across college football with a record of leadership by exhibiting exceptional courage, integrity and sportsmanship, both on and off the field.
» Hausmann has worked with the One Million Wells foundation to bring clean drinking water to Ivukula, Uganda, his place of birth and the home of his family.
» Adopted to the U.S. at age 5, Hausmann has since created his own organization, Light Beneath the Well, to continue his efforts. He is also nominated for his work with Samaritas Adoption services in Detroit, and for his leadership within the U-M locker room.
» Hausmann, a team captain, leads the Michigan defense with 40 tackles through six games.
» Finalists for the award will be named on Monday, Dec. 15.
Sept. 24 -- Greg Tarr
William V. Campbell Trophy Nominee
» Long snapper Greg Tarr is U-M's nominee for the William V. Campbell Trophy, known as "The Academic Heisman Trophy".
» A four-year letterwinner, Tarr is a four-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and four-year Dean's List member at U-M.
» He also earned the honor of Big Ten Distinguished Scholar in the 2022 season.
» Tarr graduated with a degree in sport management, a master's from the Stephen M. Ross School of Business, and is currently working toward his master's degree in accounting.
» Tarr has appeared in 18 games in his U-M career with 13 starts as the Wolverines' long snapper.
» He snapped for Lou Groza Award finalist Jake Moody's record-setting 2022 season when Moody was a second-team All-American, and is now snapping for Dominic Zvada, a 2024 All-American.

Big Ten Co-Special Teams Player of the Week (Sept. 22)
» Dominic Zvada was named Big Ten Co-Special Teams Player of the Week, sharing the honor with Iowa's Kaden Wetjen.
» The Chandler, Ariz., native was also selected as one of three Lou Groza Award Stars of the Week.
» Zvada went 3-for-3 on field-goal tries at Nebraska, converting from 21, 46 and 56 yards.
» The 56-yarder matched Zvada's career long, a distance he has converted from three times at Michigan and four times in his college career.
» This marks the second Big Ten honor for the Wolverines this season (Bryce Underwood, Big Ten Freshman of the Week, Sept. 15).
» This is Zvada's fifth Big Ten weekly award overall and his third co-honor.
» Zvada has been a Lou Groza Award semifinalist twice (2022, '24) in his career.

Shaun Alexander Award Player of the Week (Sept. 16)
Big Ten Freshman of the Week (Sept. 15)
» Quarterback Bryce Underwood completed 16-of-25 pass attempts for 235 yards with one passing touchdown in Michigan's win against Central Michigan.
» Underwood added nine rushes for 114 yards (12.7 yards per carry) and his first career rushing touchdown to become the first U-M quarterback with 100-plus yards on the ground since Devin Gardner (121 vs. Penn State) in 2013.
» With Underwood leading the offense, U-M totaled 35 first downs -- tied for the second-most in program history -- and 616 yards of total production, a program high since 2016 (vs. Maryland).
» Only Denard Robinson (twice), Devin Gardner and Underwood have produced games of 200-plus passing yards and at least one passing touchdown as well as 100-plus rushing yards and at least one rushing touchdown.
» This marks Underwood's first weekly award from the Big Ten. He is the first Wolverine to win Freshman of the Week since Andrel Anthony (Nov. 1, 2021).
» Underwood is the first Wolverine to earn the Shaun Alexander Award Player of the Week honor since its inception in 2019.
