ROSEMONT, Ill. -- In conjunction with the Big Ten Conference, the University of Michigan men's basketball program announced Thursday (Sept. 18) its 20-game league slate for the 2025-26 season. Tipoff times and broadcast designations will be released at a later date.
Each Big Ten program will have a 20-game league schedule under the format now in its eighth season, featuring two early December games along with a combination of home-only, road-only and home-and-home opponents.
"The Big Ten schedule has continued to be one of the toughest in the country, and this year is no different," said David and Meredith Kaplan Men's Basketball Head Coach Dusty May. "We're excited to host some of the premier programs in college basketball and test ourselves away from Ann Arbor. Our players and staff are eager to embrace the challenges and opportunities ahead."
Since the Big Ten increased its regular season to a 20-game format in 2017, the Wolverines hold a 9-4 record in early December games, including wins in each of the last three seasons. This year, U-M opens conference play hosting Rutgers on Saturday, Dec. 6, before traveling to College Park to face Maryland on Saturday, Dec. 13.
The Wolverines will host USC on Friday, Jan. 2, and UCLA on Saturday, Feb. 14, for the first time as Big Ten opponents, while making cross-country trips to Washington (Wednesday, Jan. 14) and Oregon (Saturday, Jan. 17).
Rivalry tilts with Michigan State and Ohio State will once again highlight the schedule. U-M travels to East Lansing on Friday, Jan. 30, before hosting the Spartans in the regular-season finale on Sunday, March 8, a game designated as a Maize Out. The Wolverines also begin a new home-and-home series with Ohio State, welcoming the Buckeyes to Ann Arbor on Friday, Jan. 23, before visiting Columbus on Sunday, Feb. 8.
Michigan's third home-and-home series is with Penn State. The Wolverines travel to State College on Tuesday, Jan. 6, before a rematch in Ann Arbor on Thursday, Feb. 5.
U-M's remaining conference schedule includes home games against Wisconsin (Saturday, Jan. 10), Indiana (Tuesday, Jan. 20), Nebraska (Tuesday, Jan. 27) and Minnesota (Tuesday, Feb. 24) and road games at Northwestern (Wednesday, Feb. 11), Purdue (Tuesday, Feb. 17), Illinois (Friday, Feb. 27) and Iowa (Thursday, March 5).
After capturing the program's fourth Big Ten Tournament title last season, Michigan will return to the United Center in Chicago for the 29th Big Ten Tournament, March 11-15, 2026.
The regular season has the Wolverines playing six games on Tuesday, two on Wednesday, two on Thursday, four on Friday, five on Saturday, and two on Sunday. Adding in Michigan's Duel in the District with Duke on Saturday, Feb. 5, in Washington, D.C., the Wolverines close the season with seven of their final 11 games on the road, including six of the last nine.
The 29th Big Ten Tournament will expand to feature all 18 conference teams and will take place March 10-15, 2026, at the United Center in Chicago. The event tips off on Tuesday, March 10, with a pair of opening-round games between the No. 15-18 seeds. Wednesday's second round will include four contests, as Tuesday's winners join the No. 9-14 seeds in action.
CBS Sports will carry the semifinals and championship game on the CBS Television Network for the 29th consecutive year, with both games also available for streaming on Paramount+.
