BOCA RATON, Fla. -- Seniors Bjorn Swenson and Nicholas Steiglehner won both their doubles and singles matches for the University of Michigan men's tennis team on Sunday (Jan. 11), the final day of the Florida Hidden Duals at the Evert Tennis Academy.
In doubles action, the pair remained unbeaten on the season after earning a 6-3 win over Clemson's Viktor Markov and Manuel Plunger. The No. 22-ranked duo improved to 5-0 this season and 7-2 together in their Michigan careers.
Swenson followed with a three-set victory in singles play, defeating Markov, 7-5, 4-6, 6-4. After dropping his opening set, Steiglehner rallied with a 6-4 second-set win and captured the third-set tiebreaker, 7-6, to secure the match.
Michigan also debuted two new doubles pairings, with Max Dahlin teaming with Arnav Bhandari and Mert Oral pairing with Pierce Shaya, though the Wolverines were unable to record additional doubles victories. Oral, Bhandari and Shaya also suffered singles losses.
Michigan opens dual season play on Monday (Jan. 19), traveling to Raleigh, N.C., to face NC State at 11 a.m.
