ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The third-ranked University of Michigan men's basketball team (17-1, 7-1 Big Ten) will return to a sold-out Crisler Center on Friday (Jan. 23) to host Ohio State (12-5, 4-3 Big Ten) in a nationally showcased Big Ten matchup. The night will be highlighted by a special ceremony honoring Michigan legend Trey Burke, as his iconic No. 3 jersey is raised to the rafters. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. on Fox, with Gus Johnson, Jim Jackson and Allison Williams on the call.
Notes
• Michigan will honor U-M great Trey Burke in a halftime ceremony, raising his No. 3 jersey to the Crisler Center rafters -- the sixth honored jersey. The first 5,000 fans will receive a mini-replica banner. Only No. 33, worn by Cazzie Russell, is officially retired.
• U-M's matchup with Ohio State is the first of two meetings and marks the eighth consecutive sellout at Crisler Center. The Wolverines will travel to Columbus, Ohio, for a return game on Feb. 8.
• U-M's Dusty May and Ohio State's Jake Diebler jointly asked the Big Ten to establish a permanent home-and-home series. The conference approved, giving Michigan two ongoing rivalry series: Michigan State and Ohio State.
• U-M trails in the series, 84-108, but has won four of the last five meetings.
• Last season: Led by double-doubles from Vladislav Goldin (20 points, 10 rebounds) and Danny Wolf (17 points, 11 rebounds), U-M earned an 86-83 road win at Value City Arena. With the game tied at 80, Roddy Gayle Jr.'s free throws and a Goldin putback following a defensive stop sealed the road win.
• Michigan is in the middle of a three-game homestand that opened with an 86-72 win over Indiana. U-M welcomes Ohio State next, then caps the stretch with a top-10 clash against undefeated Nebraska before hitting a road-heavy final stretch with seven of its last 11 Big Ten games on the road.
• After its 14-game win streak was snapped by Wisconsin, Michigan has three straight wins all by double digits -- at Washington (82-72, +10), at Oregon (81-71, +10) and Indiana (86-72, +14).
• Michigan has continued to add to one of the most dominant seasons in program history, which is highlighted by 14 wins by 10+ points, 10 by 20+, eight by 30+, six by 40+ (a Big Ten record), and one by 50+ (La Salle, 102-50, +52).
• Elliot Cadeau has posted three double-figure scoring games in his last four, including tying his career best -- twice -- with 19 points (Wisconsin and Indiana). With six three-pointers in those double-figure games, Cadeau's 30 makes from long range have moved him into the team lead.
• Michigan's "Big Three" -- Yaxel Lendeborg (14.2 ppg, 7.1 rpg), Morez Johnson Jr. (13.8 ppg, 6.9 rpg) and Aday Mara (10.9 ppg, 7.2 rpg) -- combine to produce 42 percent of U-M's scoring and more than half of the Wolverines' rebounding.
• Yaxel Lendeborg continues to fill the stat sheet -- averaging 14.2 points, 7.1 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.4 blocks, and 1.4 steals, while shooting 51.2 percent from the field and 88.1 percent at the free-throw line.
• Mara (2.6 bpg) has a block in every game this season (47 total), notching multiple blocks in 15 games -- including 13 of his last 14 and three straight games with three. He is seven blocks from a single-season best (53 at UCLA, 2024-25).
• In U-M's game against Indiana, U-M's "Big Three" led the Wolverines with nine of their 14 assists -- Lendeborg (4), Johnson (3, career-best-tying) and Mara (2).
