
Michigan to Hit the Road for Razorback Invitational

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 22-ranked University of Michigan men's track and field team will return to competition at the Razorback Invitational hosted by Arkansas on Friday and Saturday (Jan. 30-31) at the Randal Tyson Track Center. On Friday, track events will begin at 5:40 p.m. CT and field events will begin at 2 p.m. CT, while track events on Saturday will begin at 11:10 a.m. CT and field events will begin at 12:45 p.m. CT.
Notes
• This will be the first time this season that the full team has competed on the road, with the distance squad and the sprinters competing at Boston U. and Notre Dame in December.
• Michigan comes in at No. 22 in the first USTFCCCA rankings of the season, sitting third in both the Big Ten and the Great Lakes Region.
• The 800-meter run event squad (Miles Brown, John O'Reilly, Camden Law and Henry Dixon) is No. 1 in the nation with an average time of 1:48.63 while the mile run event squad (Trent McFarland, Brendan Herger, Riley Flemington and Dixon) is No. 2 with an average time of 3:57.91.
• At the Simmons-Harvey Invitational on Jan. 17, a trio of Wolverines set top-10 times on the program performers list with personal bests in the mile. McFarland led the contingent with the No. 4 time (3:56.41), Herger had the No. 6 time (3:56.62) and Flemington had the No. 9 time (3:58.07). McFarland's time also set the U-M Indoor Track Building facility record, and Flemington ran a sub-four-minute mile for the first time in his career.
• Jake Machiniak (21.40 seconds) and Will Barhite (21.64) took the top two spots in the 200-meter dash, with Machiniak's time tying his personal best and coming in at No. 7 on the program performers list.
• Brown finished first (1:48.04) and O'Reilly finished second (1:48.12) in the 800-meter run, with O'Reilly's time coming in at No. 8 on the program performers list.
• In his pole vault debut, Neil Howard cleared 5.15 meters (16 feet, 10.75 inches) to finish first. The mark is No. 7 on the program performers list.
• U-M will return home for the Michigan Invitational on Feb. 7 at the U-M Indoor Track Building. The program's seniors will be recognized following the conclusion of the meet.
