ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 10-ranked University of Michigan women's gymnastics team posted a season-high team score and earned four individual event titles but fell to No. 15 Michigan State, 197.525-197.425, on Sunday (Feb. 1) at Crisler Center.
The Wolverines recorded their highest team score since 2023, highlighted by a season-best 49.325 on vault and a season-high 49.550 on floor exercise.
Graduate student Carly Bauman notched a career-best 9.975 on floor to earn her second event title of the night and shared the balance beam title with junior Kayli Boozer, who earned her fourth title in as many meets with matching 9.900s. Junior Ava Jordan also claimed a share of the uneven bars title with a career-best 9.925, marking the first bars title of her career.
Freshman Quincy Walters added a career-best 9.950 on floor, while Audrey Sanger tied a career high with a 9.875 in the event.
Sophomore Peyton Davis led off the opening vault rotation with a 9.825, and Reyna Guggino answered following a fall with a 9.900 to steady the lineup. Boozer and Sophia Diaz followed with back-to-back 9.850s, while Jahzara Ranger closed the rotation with a 9.850 as Michigan took a 49.325-49.275 lead into the second rotation.
Jordan led off uneven bars with a career-high 9.925 and a stuck landing, while Myli Lew added a 9.850 in the fourth spot. Michigan State responded with a 49.425 on vault to take a 98.700-98.450 lead at the midway point.
Michigan continued to build momentum on balance beam as Sophie Parenti opened with a 9.825, followed by 9.875s from Walters and Jordan. Bauman and Boozer capped the rotation with matching 9.900s as U-M trailed 148.175-147.875 heading into the final event.
Sanger tied her career best with a 9.875 to lead off floor, and Walters followed with a career-high 9.950 in the second spot. After a 9.825 from Diaz, Bauman posted her career-best 9.975 before Ranger closed the meet with a 9.925.
Michigan will travel to Ohio State for a Big Ten Conference meet on Saturday (Feb. 7) at 4 p.m. The meet will stream live on B1G+.
