ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 2-ranked University of Michigan ice hockey team (23-5, 14-4 Big Ten) hosts No. 6 Penn State (18-8, 10-6 Big Ten) for a pair of games at Yost Ice Arena this weekend. Friday's (Feb. 13) game, which will be streamed live on B1G+, is slated for a 6:30 p.m. puck drop, while Saturday's (Feb. 14) 5 p.m. matchup will be broadcast live on Big Ten Network.

• Michigan is coming off a split with Michigan State that resulted in the Wolverines dropping No. 2 in the latest USCHO poll and in the National Percentage Index.
• With a 23-5 overall record, the Wolverines have the most wins in college hockey and are paired with having the seventh-highest strength of schedule in the nation. Michigan is in second place in the Big Ten standings with 38 points, one point behind the Spartans for first place.
• Penn State is third in the Big Ten standings with 32 points, six behind Michigan. The Nittany Lions are 18-8 overall, with their strength of schedule ranking 16th as they sit fifth in the NPI and sixth in the national poll.
• Michigan and Penn State split their series in November in State College, with the Wolverines winning 7-1 on Friday night before falling 4-2 on Saturday. Michigan owns a 32-21-1 advantage in the all-time series.
• Senior T.J. Hughes is second in the nation in points per game, averaging 1.43 points per game. To compare, Michigan's strength of schedule is No. 7, while Ethan Wyttenbach (the nation's leading scorer) and Quinnipiac have an SOS of 53. Hughes has scored 13 goals and adds 27 assists, with points in 22 of 28 games.
• Freshman netminder Jack Ivankovic made his return to the lineup last weekend against MSU. A Mike Richter Award Watch List member, Ivankovic has 17 wins, a .925 save percentage and 2.02 goals-against average.
• Michigan's power play, ranked third in the nation at 29.8 percent, will go up against a Penn State team that ranks second in team penalty minutes and has the ninth-best penalty kill (86.1 percent).
• The Wolverines rank second in the nation in both short-handed goals (nine) and power-play goals (31). Will Horcoff is the team leader in power-play goals with eight, while Josh Eernisse has the most short-handed goals with three.
