
Machiniak Ties 200-Meter Program Record at Heartland Invitational

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Jake Machiniak of the University of Michigan men's track and field tied the program record in the 200-meter dash on Saturday (Feb. 14) to close out the Heartland Invitational at the Fall Creek Pavilion in Indianapolis, Ind.
Machiniak finished first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 20.99, shaving 0.41 seconds off his previous best. The time ties the standard set by Adam Harris in 2009.
Will Barhite placed third in the 200-meter dash with a personal-best time of 21.61, while Malachi Mosley placed eighth (21.84) and Amit Rutman placed 11th (21.92).
The 4x400-meter relay team of Caleb Root, Nick Butler-Simpson, Mosley and Cole Romig earned a first-place finish with a time of 3:11.99 -- the third-best relay time for Michigan this season.
Josh Huisman earned a seventh-place finish in the shot put invite section, throwing for 18.24m (59-10.25) to come 0.20 meters shy of his personal best.
In the open section, Tyler Baker finished 16th with a personal-best mark of 12.94m (42-5.5) and Neil Howard finished 18th with a mark of 12.54m (41-1.75).
The Wolverines will return home to host the Silverston Invitational on Friday (Feb. 20) at 2 p.m. from the U-M Indoor Track Building.
