
Wolverines to Begin Spring Slate in Puerto Rico at Palmas Del Mar Collegiate

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Under sunny Caribbean skies, the University of Michigan men's golf team opens its spring season at the Palmas Del Mar Collegiate, running Sunday through Tuesday (Feb. 8–10) in Humacao, Puerto Rico. Hosted by UNC Greensboro, the three-day, 54-hole tournament will be contested at the Palmas Del Mar Flamboyan Course, a par-72 layout stretching 7,122 yards.

• The Palmas Del Mar Collegiate field will consist of 14 teams, including Austin Peay, Boston College, Delaware, Eastern Kentucky, Kennesaw State, Michigan, Rhode Island, Rutgers, Southern Illinois, TCU, UNC Greensboro, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, and Wofford.
• U-M will travel five starters to the Palmas Del Mar Collegiate, featuring freshman Jordan Hwang and sophomores RJ Arone, Nicolas Simon, Nilay Naik and Dean Muratore anchoring the Wolverines' starting group. Sophomore Johnny Solis will travel and play as an individual.
• Behind a final-round surge of 275 (-13), Michigan rallied for the second straight day to secure a third-place finish at the 2025 Palmas del Mar Collegiate, posting an 853 (-11) total. Former All-American Hunter Thomson led the Wolverines, earning his fifth top-10 finish with a 212 (-4). Michigan placed four golfers under par, with Thomson tying for seventh, Muratore finishing tied for 11th at 213 (-3), and Yuqi Liu and Ben Hoagland both tying for 21st at 215 (-1).
• During the winter break, Muratore and Naik tested themselves on a national stage at the Patriot All-America events, gaining valuable reps against elite fields. Muratore turned in a strong showing at the Patriot All-America Invitational, tying for 13th at even-par 210, while Naik followed with a tie for 42nd after posting a 217 at the Thunderbolt Invitational.
• Michigan's starting five has combined for 33 under-par fall rounds. Overall, the Wolverines have produced 38 sub-par rounds this season. Collectively, U-M averages 71.70 strokes per round.
• Michigan recorded 13 sub-par finishes across its five 54-hole fall events. Overall, the Wolverines are averaging two strokes under par with a 214.00 team scoring average. Highlighting those 13 sub-par tallies was Muratore's record-setting 196 (-14) at the Jim DeLapa Collegiate -- a U-M program record and just the second sub-200 total in school history.
• Arone rolled through the fall, posting 11 of his 14 rounds under par while carrying a 69.57 scoring average. He recorded four sub-par 54-hole totals in five fall events, with all four resulting in consecutive top-15 finishes, highlighted by a career-best tie for fifth at the Canadian Collegiate Invitational (208, -8). Arone also fired a career-low 205 (-11) at the Island Resort Intercollegiate.
• Muratore opened the season strong with nine of his 14 rounds under par, posting a 70.07 scoring average. He fired a career-low 64 (-6) in the second round of the Jim DeLapa Collegiate, helping him secure his first career individual title. Muratore also led the Wolverines in two events during the fall -- the DeLapa Collegiate and the Canadian Collegiate Invitational.
• In the fall, Michigan averaged 280.79 per round, posting eight sub-280 team rounds. The campaign was highlighted by five rounds under 280, including a program record–tying 267 (-21) in the final round of the Island Resort Intercollegiate.
• Across its first three fall 54-hole events, Michigan combined for 72-under par, posting three consecutive sub-par team totals -- 822 (-42) at the Island Resort Intercollegiate, 839 (-25) at the Canadian Collegiate Invitational, and 835 (-5) at the Jim DeLapa Collegiate.
