
O'Tey Ties No. 8 Time in 60-Meter Dash at Michigan Invitational

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's track and field team set a top-10 program mark on Saturday (Feb. 7), hosting the Michigan Invitational at the U-M Indoor Track Building.
Freshman Keyanna O'Tey blazed through the 60-meter dash preliminaries with a personal best of 7.45 seconds before besting that with a 7.44 in the finals for a third-place finish. The finals time is tied for No. 8 on the program performers list.
Abigail Russell earned a second-place finish with a distance of 18.86 meters (61 feet, 10.5 inches) in the weight throw before finishing first in the shot put with a season best of 16.86m (55-3.75). Elizabeth Tapper took second (16.53m; 54-2.75), while Trinity Franklin threw a season best of 15.36m (50-4.75) to finish fourth, and Janey Campbell threw her way to a personal-best 14.45m (47-5).
Maya Anderson leapt 5.87m (19-3.25) to win the long jump, coming just 0.02 meters shy of her personal best. Gabriella Newman cleared 1.75m (5-8.75) in the high jump for a fifth-place finish, only 0.01 meters from her personal best.
In the pole vault, Kourtney Rathke cleared 4.08m (13-4.50) to place second, and Iliana Downing cleared 3.83m (12-6.75) to tie for seventh. Downing's mark was 0.02m shy of her personal best.
Rylee Tolson (4:49.70), Caroline Beiting (4:51.80) and Mara Longenecker (4:52.12) went 1-2-3 in the mile run. Tolson and Beiting's times were season bests, while Longenecker's was a personal best. Emily Cescon finished sixth with a time of 4:57.59.
Lauren Bickerdt ran a personal-best 57.91 to finish seventh in the 400-meter dash, while Trinity Henderson finished fourth (24.63) in the 200-meter dash. Alyna Lewis ran a personal-best 1:31.29 to earn a fourth-place finish in the 600-meter run.
The squad honored its 15 seniors following the conclusion of the meet.
The Wolverines will hit the road for a pair of meets next Friday and Saturday (Feb. 13-14), heading to Indianapolis, Ind., for the Heartland Invitational, and traveling to Boston, Mass., for the David Hemery Valentine Invitational.
