Michael Hixon

Michael Hixon joined the Michigan Swim and Dive staff as a graduate assistant coach for the 2020-21 season.
Hixon brings Olympic experience to Ann Arbor, having earned a silver medal in the 2016 Rio Olympics in the men’s Synchronized 3-meter Springboard. He will once again represent Team USA in the event in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
During his collegiate career, Hixon was a highly-decorated diver at Big Ten foe Indiana University and the University of Texas. As a freshman at UT, the Amherst, Mass. native won NCAA Diver of the Year, winning the 1-meter title of the opening day of competition at the NCAA Championships before coming back to win the 3-meter title on day two. He’d add a fitting bookend to his career in 2017-18 at IU with another NCAA Championship, bringing home another title in the 1-meter.
In total, Hixon earned All-American honors all four years of collegiate competition, including two each his junior and senior seasons at IU. He was a two-time Big Ten Diver of the Championships, three-time All-Big Ten first team member, and two-time member of the Academic All-Big Ten team. He also earned CSCAA Scholar All-American.
