SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The University of Michigan women's tennis team opened its 1998-99 season by competing in the University of Notre Dame's Eck Classic Friday through Sunday (Sept. 18-20).
Freshman Maya Canfield (Grand Rapids, Mich./East Grand Rapids HS) was the Wolverines' top winner as she posted a 3-2 singles record in the Gold Flight. Sophomore Alison Sinclair (Lakeland, Fla./George Jenkins HS) and junior Erryn Weggenman (Portland, Ore./Jesuit HS) each earned two victories in the Gold Flight.
In doubles, the team of Canfield and freshman Marya Farah (Linden, Mich./Powers Catholic HS) split four matches.
