DALLAS, Texas -- The University of Michigan women's golf squad began the spring portion of its 1998-99 season with a seventh-place finish at the Midwest Classic, hosted by Northwestern University at the Hyatt Bear Creek Golf Club. The Wolverines posted rounds of 336 and 328 to finish with a total of 664, 37 shots behind winner Minnesota (627).

Senior Sharon Park (Lexington, Ky./Henry Clay HS) led the way for Michigan, shooting rounds of 81 and 80 to finish in a tie for 16th place. A total of 74 golfers competed in the event, which was a five-count-four format.

Freshman Misia Lemanski (Grosse Ile, Mich./Gross Ile HS) finished in a tie for 27th place, while freshmen Bess Bowers (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington North HS) and LeAnna Wicks (Brighton, Mich./Brighton HS) tied for 36th. Competing as an individual, sophomore Jennifer Baumann (Okemos, Mich./Okemos HS) finished in a tie for 34th place.

The Wolverines will hit the links again in two weeks when they travel to Sebring, Fla., to compete in the TFN Spring Lake Women's Invitational on March 15-16.
