Men's Tennis to Begin Season at ITA Clay Courts

Wright, a two-time All-Big Ten selection (1997 and 1999), enters the tournament ranked 71st in the preseason ITA rankings released Sept. 13. Wright is one of 48 players who have been selected to the 64-player main draw portion of the tournament, which begins Sept. 23. Wright played No. 1 singles for the Wolverines last year and posted an impressive 12-9 dual match record and 19-12 overall mark. He heads into his final year with a 64-40 career singles record.
Long will compete in the qualifying portion of the tournament (Sept. 21-22) with hopes of advancing to the main draw. Long enters the tournament looking to capture his 60th career victory (59-26 record) after posting a career-best 23-10 record a year ago. He recorded a 16-5 dual match record last season at the No. 3 spot in the lineup.
A sophomore with tremendous potential, McCain will be making his first appearance at the clay court tournament. McCain will play in the pre-qualifying portion of the draw (Sept. 18-19) with hopes of advancing to the qualifier and then on to the main draw of the tournament. McCain posted a 17-16 record last season and recorded an 11-9 dual match mark at the No. 4 spot in the lineup.
The remainder of the Wolverines men's tennis squad will compete at the Tom Fallon Invitational hosted by Notre Dame next weekend (Sept. 24-26).
