Reigning National Runner-Up

Big Ten Tournament Champions
Courtney Reid (S. Deerfield, Mass./Northfield Mt. Hermon HS) was named Big Ten Conference Tournament MVP for the Big Ten Champion Wolverines. Reid scored two goals -- including the gamewinner -- in the championship and assisted on the other goal as Michigan won its second-consecutive conference tournament crown with a 3-2 victory over seventh-ranked Penn State on Nov. 5 at Ocker Field. The victory gives Michigan an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship. The Maize and Blue defeated Ohio State 2-1 in the semifinals to reach the title game.
Kristi Gannon (Escondido, Calif./San Pasqual HS) scored the game-winning goal against Ohio State with one minute left in the contest to prevent overtime. Jessica Rose (Lititz, Pa./Warwick HS) got the Wolverines on the map with the first goal of the game.
In the final against Penn State, Reid took control of the contest, scoring twice and assisting on goal by Kelli Gannon (Escondido, Calif./San Pasqual HS). Penn State retaliated with two goals of its own before the Michigan defense tightened and preserved the 3-2 victory.
All-Tournament Team

Wolverines Kelli Gannon (Escondido, Calif./San Pasqual HS) and Kristi Gannon (Escondido, Calif./San Pasqual HS) were named offensive player of the year and freshman of the year, respectively, and head coach Marcia Pankratz was named coach of the year. Gannon and Reid All-Stars
Seniors Kelli Gannon and Courtney Reid were selected to the North squad for the 2000 NFHCA North/South Senior All-Star Game to be held on Saturday, Nov. 18, at Foreman Field on the campus of Old Dominion University. If the Wolverines reach the Final Four hosted by Old Dominion, Gannon and Reid will have to respectfully decline the invitation.
Nobody Does it Better
Head coach Marcia Pankratz has broken Patti Smith's (1989-95) all-time Michigan win record of 74. Pankratz earned her 75th and 76th victories against Ohio State and Penn State to become U-M's all-time leader. Pankratz has a Michigan and career record of 76-31.
Top-Notch Tasch
Goalkeeper Maureen Tasch (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer HS) proved Marcia Pankratz's decision for her to become the starter in the postseason was the right one. Tasch made four huge saves to help U-M claim its second straight conference tourney title this past weekend.
Reid Ties Her Own Record
Senior Courtney Reid added her 22nd helper at the Big Ten tourney to tie the single-season assist record she already holds with Catherine Foreman (Happy Valley, S. Australia/Westminster) and Shelly Johnson (1996-97). Reid is tied for fourth in the nation in assists
