Michigan (0-2) opened the scoring in the fourth inning as junior catcher David Parrish (Yorba Linda, Calif./Esperanza HS) singled on the first pitch of the inning and he scored as Bobeda launched his seventh career homer over the scoreboard in rightfield.
The Dolphins scored once in the fourth, three times in the fifth to take the lead and once more in the sixth against sophomore RHP Bobby Wood (Englewood, Colo./Cherry Creek HS). Wood went seven innings in his first career start and took the loss. He allowed 12 hits, five runs (four earned) and recorded three strikeouts. Junior LHP Nick Alexander (Alpena, Mich./Alpena HS) allowed two runs in his first outing of the season while working the eighth inning.
Jacksonville freshman RHP Casey Shumacher (1-2) allowed six hits and fanned nine batters in recording his first win and first complete game.
The top six batters in the Wolverine lineup had hits, but only in the fourth inning did Michigan get more than one hit.
The Wolverines meet Xavier in Kennel Club Classic action Sunday (Feb. 27, 3 p.m.) at Harmon Stadium on the University of North Florida campus. Junior LHP Bryan Cranson (Bronson, Mich./Bronson HS), the Wolverines' active career leader in wins (12), is slated to make the start.
