UNF (15-4), ranked No. 4 in the nation in NCAA Division II, displayed a solid offense (eight hits), a steady defense (no errors) and a five-hit, 11-strikeout effort from three pitchers. Senior RHP Dan Roszel pitched the first five innings for the Ospreys and allowed three hits while collecting six strikeouts. He earned his third win of the season, allowing both Wolverine runs in the sixth inning.
The Wolverines started slowly with sophomore RHP Phil Lobert (Spring Lake, Mich./Grand Haven HS) on the mound. UNF scored six runs in the first inning on just two hits -- RBI singles by 3B Greg Labbe and DH Brian Rapp, the sixth and seventh hitters in the lineup. Only two of the six runs were earned.
After the first seven UNF hitters reached base, Lobert (0-1) got out of the first inning with a double play and a strikeout. He matched his career best with five innings pitched and fanned five, one shy of his career-best outing, a no-decision at Eastern Michigan (5/6/99).
Sophomore LHP Kirk Taylor (Farmington Hills, Mich./North Farmington HS) worked two scoreless innings and freshman Brad McCloskey (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Brother Rice HS) was touched for a hit and a run in his Wolverine debut.
Michigan scored its two runs in the sixth inning as freshman 3B Brock Koman (Pueblo, Colo./South HS) smashed a two-run single with the bases loaded. The inning ended with tri-captain Rob Bobeda's (DeWitt, Mich./DeWitt HS) bid for a double down the line turned into a double play by slick fielding Brian Fleetwood.
Senior 1B Jay Dines (Albuquerque, N.M./Sandia HS) moved his hitting streak to three games, collecting two of Michigan's five hits in the game.
After a day off, the Wolverines return to spring trip action on Thursday (March 2) vs. Xavier with junior RHP Vince Pistilli (Highland, Ind./Highland HS) (0-1, 4.76 ERA) on the mound. Michigan beat Xavier 5-0 on Sunday (Feb. 27).

Freshman catcher Alex Coleman (Dallas, Texas/Lake Highlands HS) made his Wolverine debut in the UNF game and became the fourth Wolverine to notch his first career hit, a seventh-inning single.
Freshman 2B Jordan Cantalamessa (Englewood, Colo./Cherry Creek HS) had his three-game hitting streak snapped the hard way. Cantalamessa, who had a hit in all three games he had played before Tuesday night at UNF, was hit by a pitch twice and walked before grounding out in the eighth inning to go 0-for-1.
Brock Koman leads the team in hitting (.350), hits (7) and RBI (4). Others hitting over .300 for the Wolverines include Jay Dines (.333, 4-for-12), sophomore 1B Dan Dombos (.333, 1-for-3), Alex Coleman (.333, 1-for-3) and Jordan Cantalamessa (.308, 4-for-13).
Five Wolverines pitchers have 0.00 ERAs, including senior LHP Bryan Cranson (1-0, 6 IP), freshman LHP Rich Hill (0-0, 3.1 IP), freshman RHP Tim Leveque (0-0, 2.2 IP), sophomore LHP Kirk Taylor (0-0, 2 IP) and sophomore LHP Jeff Trzos (0-0, 2 IP).
