Hurricanes Use Seven-Run Sixth Inning to Top U-M

Leveque (1-1) gave up a leadoff single to Kris Clute in the sixth inning and left the game in a 3-3 tie. Later in the sixth Clute had the seventh Miami hit of the inning and drove in the final run off sophomore LHP Jeff Trzos (Farmington Hills, Mich./North Farmington HS).
Michigan (6-8) battled back twice in the game, tying the game at 1-1 in the second inning as tri-captain Rob Bobeda (DeWitt, Mich./DeWitt HS) doubled and scored on a two-out error. Bobeda was 2-for-4 Saturday night and is 4-for-8 in the series.
Miami took a 3-1 lead on a pop-fly double with the bases loaded by 2B Javy Rodriguez in the fourth, but Michigan battled back again in the top of the sixth. Junior 2B Scott Tousa (Dallas, Texas/Lake Highlands HS) opened the frame with a bunt single and tri-captain SS Kevin Quinn (Midland, Mich./Midland HS) followed with a homer to left to tie the score. Quinn's homer -- his first of the season and the second of his career -- extended hyis career-best hit streak to seven games.
Miami scored the seven runs in the sixth inning for the win with DH Mike Rodriguez knocking in the winning run with a bases-loaded sacrifice fly off sophomore RHP Bobby Korecky (Saline, Mich./Saline HS). Miami RF Manny Crespo (2-for-4) and 3B Lale Esquivel each had two-run singles in the winning rally.
Freshman RF Gino Lollio (Cape Coral, Fla./Mariner HS) had two singles in the game and joins Bobeda with four hits in the series vs. the defending national champs.
Michigan closes out the Miami series on Sunday afternoon (March 19, 1 p.m.) with senior LHP Bryan Cranson (Bronson, Mich./Bronson HS) on the mound. Cranson is 2-1 (5.15 ERA).
N O T E S
Tri-captain Kevin Quinn extended his career-best hit streak to seven games with his second career homer. His first was against Penn State at U-M's Ray Fisher Stadium.
Tri-captain Rob Bobeda moved his hitting streak to six games, and freshmen Brock Koman (Pueblo, Colo./South HS) and Gino Lollio have five-game streaks.
